The history of Belovezhskije cheese

The history of our company began in 1938, when a new cheese-making shop was opened in the area of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. But it didn't come out of nowhere. It is based on the knowledge, experience and skills of Belarusian cheesemakers who have been honing and improving their craft for hundreds of years. Only now the artisan cheese production was transferred to industrial rails.

1938

In the city of Vysoko-Litovsk (in our time – the city of Vysokoe), a dairy was opened, which consisted of the main branch for the production of sour cream and four branches of butter mills.

1950

After the liberation of the territory of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the plant was restored. Production of four types of butter, hard cheese, casein, ice cream and drinking milk was started.

1965

Skimmed cheese, casein, diet cheese, blade cheese, and home-made cheese were produced. Cheese was produced, milk and cream were shipped to the Brest GMZ and Kamenetsky Creamery.

Gross output was produced by 2.5 million rubles, the profit was 44 thousand rubles. The company employed 60 people, the average salary was 90 rubles. 1975: it was a part of the Kamyanets head Creamery.

1991

Milk processing 22 thousand tons. Production of butter 566 tons, cheese 430 tons, whole milk products (milk, sour cream) 830 tons, skimmed cheese - 87 tons, casein - 92 tons, milk and cream were shipped to the Brest GMZ.

Products were produced in the amount of 3.8 million rubles, the profit was 77 thousand rubles. The number of employees is 68 people, the average salary is 141 rubles.

2003

On the basis of JSC "Vysokovsky cheese factory" established OJSC "Byelovezhskije Syry". The attracted investments are aimed at modernization and expansion of production. The latest equipment was purchased from leading manufacturers in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria and Russia. All production halls were reconstructed.

2007

The site of the Central processing center and the receiving and hardware section were reconstructed, a cheese storage room and a cheese packaging section were put into operation.

The reconstruction and technical re-equipment measures carried out in the period 2000-2008 made it possible to: increase the capacity, efficiency of raw material processing (all incoming raw materials are processed at the enterprise), production volumes in natural and cost terms, and introduce new types of products: hard cheeses of 8 types, cheddar cheeses of 2 types, cream cheese processed, animal butter of 3 types, albumin cottage cheese.

2016

The owner of the plant is changing. A team of professionals gathers. Modernization continues. New export markets are opening up. The plant's products are exported far to countries outside the CIS. The high quality of the cheeses made by our cheesemakers was appreciated by gourmets in Japan and the USA.

2020

Now OJSC "Byelovezhskije Syry" supplies cheeses, butter, and feta to more than a dozen countries around the world. The company is one of the industry leaders. Numerous awards annually confirm the quality of products.
